Early Successes with Essential Oils

I was so excited when I received my Essential Oils in the mail on Saturday!

In fact, I was so excited, I completely forgot to blog about them, but that was OK because it gave me plenty of time to try them out a few different ways. I've only had them for about three days, but I'm already thrilled with how they work.

Lemon Essential Oil

The very first thing I did was to open my oils and pull out the Lemon oil. I went to the bathroom and put a drop of it on my toothbrush, then added toothpaste and brushed my teeth. Wow! The taste was so refreshing, and I was eager to find out if my teeth would look whiter after a few days' of doing this. I'll be sure to post about those results.

My husband (who has been very skeptical about these oils) has suffered with severe stomach discomfort for a long time now. He's been taking Omeprazole for as long as I can remember. He hadn't taken his pill yet that day, and I had been told that Lemon can also help to ease acid reflux. I put three drops of Lemon into four ounces of water for each of us and we drank it. Within a few minutes, he was feeling better and he was eager to talk about how if this really worked, he wouldn't have to take Omeprazole anymore. It seemed he was beginning to come around.

Citrus Fresh Essential Oil

The second thing I did was to mix up about four drops of the Citrus Fresh oil with about 1/4 cup of coconut oil. I had read that using that mixture topically on "problem areas" (read: cellulite) can do a world of good. I've been doing that in the morning and at night.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Aside from smelling absolutely divine, Peppermint is said to take care of a host of issues. I was starting to get one of my sinus headaches and since it was right before I had to leave for my birthday dinner, I decided to use some Peppermint oil on my temples, neck and forehead before I left. By the time we got to the restaurant, I was feeling great.

My son (who is 12 years old), on the other hand, wasn't feeling so great. He had been complaining about stomach pain for a few days, and had to leave the table several times to visit the bathroom at the restaurant. When we got home, I made him some water with Lemon and had him drink that while I mixed some Peppermint in with some coconut oil. I rubbed that on his stomach where he said it was hurting. He was fine for the rest of the evening, and he still hasn't had any other issues.

PanAway Essential Oil

This was the kicker. My in-laws came to visit and go out to dinner with us that night for my birthday. My mother-in-law had been complaining about pain in her back after going swimming that morning. I knew PanAway was used to help with pain, so I mixed up about four drops of Pan Away with about a 1/4 cup of coconut oil. I gave that to her to take home. The next day, I texted her to ask how her back was feeling. She responded that she had taken some Hydrocodone (Vicodin) the night before and didn't want to use it because she wanted to see how it really worked. When she woke up the next morning, she was still in quite a bit of pain. She had just put it on and said she would text me later with results. A little while later, she did just that and reported that she had no pain!

How amazing are these results?!

I'll admit that when I ordered the oils, I really didn't think that I'd see such fast results from using them, and I'm so excited to see how well they work. I am truly a believer of their ability to do great things for the human body.

Please stay tuned as I continue to explore Essential Oils and find out even more about what they can do. I'll be sure to blog about my findings.

If you're interested in placing an order to try them for yourself, you can do so by visiting this link and using my information at the end of this post.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Welcome to Essential Oils for Life!

I'm so glad you've joined me as I begin my journey with Essential Oils, and I hope you'll find this blog to be inspiring as you think about beginning your own journey. I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I'm the mom of three children. I am a professional writer who gets to enjoy the challenges and luxuries of working from home. My husband is a delivery driver for Sysco. My kids are 15, 12 and 5 years old. I'm also a born again Christian, and as soon as I heard the idea of using the natural materials that God had given to us to heal everything from the common cold to back pain, I wanted to know more.

If I had to pinpoint what exactly caused me to be interested in Essential Oils, I probably would say it all started when I got a flu shot a few years ago. Up until that time, I was a firm believer in the flu shot, and I made sure that every member of my family got one each year, myself included. That particular year, I went to the local pharmacy to get my shot and they were out of the "regular" shot that most people got. That was the shot that had the dead version of the virus. They did, however, have the live version that came in a different type of format that would be injected just under the skin, much the same way that a TB test is done. They assured me that it was safe, so I consented.

A few weeks later, I became deathly ill really sick. There wasn't anything in the news about how the flu shot that year hadn't worked very well (like we heard this year), but I knew I had the flu. I thought I was going to die, and I spent at least a week just lying on my couch wondering if I would ever come out of it. That was the worst experience of my life, and I swore that neither I, nor my kids, would ever get a flu shot again.

And we haven't.

I started thinking about the things we put into our bodies, and I've thought about it even more this year after this ineffective flu shot. How many medications are we taking that actually cause other problems, which then require additional medications? There are a lot of them. There has to be a better way.

Enter Essential Oils

For the longest time, I wanted to learn about Essential Oils, but I couldn't find anyone who could really explain much about them to me. I was told that they do this and they do that...and I just wanted to know how they work! Do you drink them? Do you rub them into your skin? What's the deal?

Finally, my good friend Meggan sat me down and told me all about them. She invited me to a class where I could learn even more and ask my questions. I was excited about the class, and I made plans to attend.

The class was incredibly informative, and I learned so much just from a few hours sitting in Meggan's kitchen. While I was there, she decided to diffuse a few drops of Thieves in her diffuser, and pretty soon, the slight scent of the oil started to make its way through the room. As a bit of back story, I have had sinus issues for several years now. I will get sinus headaches that are just terrible, and then I will take Ibuprofen and all of a sudden, it's like the floodgates are unleashed from my sinuses. I sneeze, I blow my nose and I'm miserable for a good four hours until I'm clear again. I thought for about a year that I was allergic to Ibuprofen or something. Then, I started to think, Wait...maybe it's the stuffy sinuses causing the headache! The Ibuprofen must relieve the pressure so they can drain.

I figured out what was causing the problem, but I still didn't know how to fix it.

As I sat in Meggan's kitchen that day, with Thieves wafting through the air, my sinuses started to open up. I sneezed once and I blew my nose once. By the time I left, I had never felt so clear in my entire life. I could breathe, I didn't have a headache and I felt amazing.

That was all the proof I needed.

I'm not going to claim that I know a lot about Essential Oils because right now I don't. I'm just learning, but I'm so excited to receive my kit in the mail. This is going to be fun, and I can't wait to see the changes in myself as well as in my family.

I hope you'll join me!
